ACADEMICS

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE
At Lumen Christi, we encourage students, staff and parents to express and understand their own feelings because we believe feelings are very important. We also encourage a listening culture to promote a sense of self worth and self-evaluation.

ACADEMIC GROWTH
Through multiple teaching and evaluative methods. (Individual, small and large group teaching, problem solving, peer-group teaching, use of modern technology) we aim at providing the highest possible academic growth for each learner.

We encourage only healthy competitions, objective analysis and self-criticisms that are geared towards producing competent and well-balanced individuals.

EXTENDED LEARNING PROGRAMS
We believe that learning goes beyond the classrooms, for students and teachers. Specifically, we encourage students to develop their investigative skills through homework, research, group assignments and holiday assignments. At the end of the day, students acquire self-discipline and self-motivation.

ACADEMIC EVALUATION OF STUDENTS
At Lumen Christi, we have a double-edged process of evaluation – School to Parents/Guardian and Parents to school.
We have two assessment procedures: Internal and External.
Internal: There are three tests in a term 1st test 10, 2nd test (20) and Exam (70).
A student must make a minimum average of 50% in order to be qualified to PASS. A student must pass Mathematics and English if he must be considered ‘pass’ (10 subjects + Mathematicss and English & English – SS 2 and 3).
External: Students are also exposed to two external exams – JSS III and SS III. However JSS III is made up of State JSS III and Federal JSS III while SSCE is made up of WAEC and NECO respectively.
Continuous Assessment: Tests are written twice a term and an end of term examination.
Attention is given to discover students with special gifts and talents. Efforts to encourage these are also made.
Graduating students write appropriate state/national examinations; the SSCE and NECO examinations respectively.
